The Phoenix Program provides specialized, trauma-sensitive treatment that is informed by the Halton Trauma Centre’s Safe T Program. It focuses on building capacity for sexual health, and is individually tailored to meet the need of each child and family. Families and caregivers are provided informed supervision training in the program/their home community to better manage sexual behaviour risk.
Youth in the program typically have some form of forensic involvement, and have also experienced their own histories of maltreatment and trauma. Treatment length is typically 13 months in duration.
This program is provided in partnership with the Ministry of Children’s Services.
The Phoenix Program Provides:
- 24-hour supervision and milieu treatment
- 24-hour crisis support for children on-site and their families in the community
- Individual and family therapeutic services specifically tailored to the needs of the child and family
- A comprehensive functional assessment
- Psycho-sexual education
- Informed supervision training for parents/caregivers
- Access to additional therapeutic and assessment services including occupational therapy, expressive arts therapies, speech and language therapy, etc. (at an additional cost)
- Recreation and wilderness opportunities
- Opportunities for structured community engagement and citizenry
- Nursing services and monitoring of health issues
- Access to psychiatric care, and medication management and review
- Access to specialized, on-site educational services
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
- Post-treatment community care and follow-up services
- In-home support for families through Mobilization Services
