Aiden's Story

Because of your generous support, children have a safe place to turn to when they need help. Together, we are changing the lives of children like Aiden every day.

“I didn’t know what was going on. I thought my home life was normal−that everyone went through that. No one believed me when I told them about what my mom and stepdad were doing to me. I didn’t feel like a priority at home, and I ran away a lot.

When I arrived, I remember Bernie being at the door. I very vividly remember we were sitting, me on the fireplace ledge and Bernie on the couch across from me. It was, or seemed to be, just the beginning of winter−the fireplace was on and Christmas was approaching.

What really astounded me was that I could just be myself. Bernie was the first person that told me I was okay. He made me feel like a person.”
