Foster Care, Therapeutic Foster Care & Parented Group Homes

Wood’s Homes knows the importance of ‘home’. Reverend George Wood opened his foster home in 1914 in Innisfail. Today, our services provide family-based care to children and young people with consistent in-home support to our foster parents in Calgary. Our therapeutic foster caregivers in the North (known as Home Fire Keepers) proudly serve the communities of Cold Lake, Grande Prairie and Lac La Biche.

Family Support Network

A service for families who have been referred by Forest Lawn Children’s Services in southeast Calgary. This Collaborative Service Delivery Model is strongly focused on outcomes and is provided in partnership with Alberta Children and Family Services.

Foster Care Network

Family-based care for children and young people with consistent in-home support for foster parents. The goal is a successful transition back to the family home, long-term stability in a foster-care setting or independent living.

Therapeutic Foster Care

This model of foster care serves young people (ages 13-17) who may have been in live-in care or group homes. The focus is on serving Indigenous foster children and is primarily intended for Indigenous caregivers who we call Home Fire Keepers as we recognize the importance of cultural connection.

The Wheatland Program

A house-parented, group-care model for young people dealing with diverse psychological, social and emotional issues. So-called Wheatland as it operates in Strathmore and area.

The Collingwood Program

A live-in treatment program that provides a highly-supported, family-like setting where young people learn life skills, self-management and independence under clinical supervision. So-called Collingwood as it operates in this northwest community in Calgary.
