At Wood’s Homes, we’ve expanded mental health awareness in May. In addition to recognizing National Child and Youth Mental Health Day on May 7, and National Mental Health Week May 5 to 11, we’re investing in mental health awareness, outreach and education campaigns for all of May!

During May, we ask you what “saying yes” to mental health looks like to you.

When you say yes, are you:

  • Saying yes to counselling?
  • Getting help on your recovery journey?
  • Seeking family counselling to get through a tough time?
  • Donating to a much-needed mental health program?

Mental Health Month Events

Mural Unveiling and Open House - May 7, 4 to 7 p.m.

Gather as a community of support to celebrate May 7 – National Child and Youth Mental Health Day. You’ll enjoy a browse through our Market, light refreshments, and a tour of the Inglewood Opportunity Hub. This is a unique opportunity to see our drop-in space for seeking warmth, nutrition, community, showers and laundry, and crisis or recovery counselling. You’ll also get a glimpse into the beautiful kitchen where our Youth Culinary Arts Program participants learn the skills they need to get great jobs – and re-start the next phase of their lives.

A special unveiling of our brand new mural – created by four youth muralists around the circular space of our Global Village – will take place at 5 p.m.

Inglewood Youth Art Festival - May 24 and 25 | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Enjoy dozens of youth artists’ work at the Inglewood Youth Art Festival. Activities for families, refreshments and live music will set the tone as you stroll through the creative works of some of Calgary’s up-and-coming young artists.

Drop in with your family on Saturday or Sunday for a sensory experience of food, art, music, family friendly hands-on art experiences, and more.

About Wood's Homes

Wood’s Homes is a mental health organization with multiple campuses, shelters and homes in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore, Lethbridge, Grand Prairie and Fort McMurray. We offer over 40 services and programs – providing treatment and support for children, young people, adults and families with mental health needs. We proudly serve in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore, Fort McMurray, and Grande Prairie.

We understand and appreciate that every child, young person and family has unique needs when it comes to treating mental health issues. Wood’s Homes services include community-based, accessible crisis and recovery counselling, resource centres and live-in treatment programs.
