Celebrating the dedication and commitment of our foster families

In Alberta, October is recognized as a month to appreciate our Foster and Kinship Caregivers for their commitment to going above and beyond in meeting the needs of the children placed in their care.

Wood’s Homes Foster Care Network is honored to recognize 34 dedicated foster homes that have helped support up to 80 children in 2020.

Each year, our foster parents continue to show us how dedicated and committed they are to the children in their care. They provide a safe and stable environment for children and youth to flourish, and help to balance school, medical appointments, recreational programming, and cultural and family connection – to name a few.

This year, our foster parents have grown in their parenting (and patience) skills as a result of COVID-19. Although the pandemic has been challenging, it has also been a time of significant growth and learning. Our foster parents have used this gift of time to become teachers and mentors, develop meaningful relationships, and most importantly, become more creative with how they can connect children to their families.

Although we cannot meet in person this year, we look forward to celebrating with our foster parents via a virtual celebration on Oct. 28!
