Staff and clients respond: What are you thankful for?
October 07, 2016

Thanksgiving is a time when many of us reflect on what we’re most thankful for. At Wood's Homes, the joy of working with children, youth and families, the support we receive from the community and the 100 year history we've shared in Calgary - an amazing city - tops our list.
In the spirit of the season, we decided to ask our staff and clients what they are thankful for. Some of the answers we received were surprising, but always heartwarming.
“I’m thankful for all my friends who make me smile.”
“I am thankful for all the Wood’s Homes people for everything like food, a place to sleep and the greatest treatment I could have.”
“I’m thankful for my group of friends and my family. They mean so much to me and I love having them around.”
“I’m thankful for being healthy and getting my baby back home with me.”
"I'm thankful for the opportunity to come here to Phoenix and do treatment, my family, and the opportunity to make some weird pals."
"I'm thankful for my family and my new baby brother, and good days on the river fishing."
"I'm thankful for having a Mom."
"I'm thankful I didn't eat any bad tasting jelly beans and that I got to go to a new school."
"I'm thankful for somewhere warm to sleep now that it's getting cold outside."
"I'm thankful for all my friends."
“I’m thankful for my supportive and understanding parents, my loyal and trustworthy friends, my chances to play professional soccer, a god who is always there and the people at Wood’s Homes who have helped me realize pain is temporary and can be dealt with, and who’ve convinced me to believe there is always hope.”
“I'm thankful for everyone who has contributed to creating a place where children and families can grow and thrive.”
"I'm thankful for having a roof over my head and an opportunity to have a better future."
"I'm thankful I can still see my boyfriend every weekend."
"I'm thankful for long weekends."
“I’m thankful for my mommy and daddy, food and my toys.”
"I'm thankful for my friends and family, and getting to go home soon."
"I'm thankful for sweet wrist shots, my loving mother and stepfather, and I am thankful for Team Canada World Cup of Hockey."
“I’m thankful for everything.”
From all of us here at Wood's Homes, Happy Thanksgiving!
