Across the country, Thursday, May 5 is Children’s Mental Health Day. It’s a day we, at Wood’s Homes, recognize as an opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of accessible mental health treatment for children, youth and families.
Last year, joined by community members, partnering organizations and some recognizable faces from Calgary’s political and athletic arenas, we marched through Calgary’s downtown core spreading the word about mental health and doing our part to eliminate the stigma many feel when confronting mental health concerns.
This year, our campaign has moved from the streets to the web, taking the form of a social media campaign we’re asking YOU to take part in.
Again, we’re lucky to have a number of prominent Albertans helping us tell a powerful story. As told by their youngest son Ethan, it’s the story of a family who came to Wood’s Homes when they didn’t know where else to turn. Illustrated and narrated by children, we hope the family’s story reaches as many viewers as possible — we want people to know there is help and relief, and things can and do get better.
As Ethan and his family have shared their story, we ask that you keep the ball rolling by spreading the word via your own social media channels.
From all of us at Wood’s Homes, thank you.
