The Exceptional Needs Under-12 Program is an intensive, campus-based mental health program for children (6-12 years) and their families.
Clients have experienced significant maltreatment and trauma, and are displaying severe disruptive behavioural concerns resulting in less-intensive placement breakdown. The program is designed to provide a safe environment for behaviourally at-risk children who have not been able to be managed in community outpatient settings. The program offers trauma informed, family-centred, developmentally appropriate and evidence-based treatment. Children live on site and are supported 24/7 within the treatment milieu. The average length of stay is 6-9 months. All clients have a history of involvement with Child and Family Services and multiple placement breakdowns.
