Psychologist (Clinician) - Family Support Network (1 Position)
We Never Say No. We Never Give up. We Never Turn Anyone Away.
Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Our over 550 staff and volunteers help provide 35 programs and services for 28,000 children and their families each year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Canmore, Strathmore, Fort McMurray and Fort Smith, N.W.T.
Commitment to high-risk adolescents, challenged with some very tough issues, is not easy and the reality is that most problems surface after hours. These are the times when our frontline workers spring into action. Work hours at Wood’s Homes are typically round-the-clock and the type of work we do requires quick thinking, confidence, forgiveness and persistence.
We are currently seeking a Psychologist (Clinician) to work in the Family Support Network.
This program provides Family Support Services within the Collaborative Services Delivery model in collaboration with the Ministry of Children’s Services at the Forest lawn office. All families have identified child protection issues and the work includes intact families and those with children in care. The Clinician’s role has two main components; one is the delivery of assessment and consultation under the Brief Intervention for Caregivers (BICS) for children in foster care to address developmental issues, behavioural concerns, trauma and loss and grief for the children placed in their care. The second component is providing clinical consultation and brief direct services to the Family Support Counsellors regarding crisis management and developmental support with a trauma focused lens.
This position reports to the Program Manager of the Family Support Network.
